This release contains features that are designed to make
communities easier for you to use to share information and to collaborate
with people both inside and outside your organization.
The following features are new or updated for Communities
in IBM® Connections 5.0
If your system administrator has enabled support for external
users, community owners can now invite external users to join restricted
communities or add external users to restricted communities. External
users are people from outside your organization. External users can
participate in the community they are invited to join but are restricted
in what they can and cannot do in IBM Connections What can external users do?.
In this release, when you delete a community, the community and
all data that is associated with it is moved to a trash area. You
can restore the community later, provided it is not purged from trash.
Joining a public subcommunity and its parent in one click. Now
when you join a public subcommunity, you automatically join the parent
community.
IBM Connections 5.0 introduces
a new Gallery widget. The new widget is not a direct replacement of
Media Gallery widget. Instead, it is intended to display content that
is contained in the Files application and Community folders.
Note: You
cannot upload files in the gallery; instead you add files to a folder
and use the gallery to view these files. For more information, see Working with community galleries
Note: When you install IBM Connections
5.0 the media gallery is removed from the application palette, however,
any existing media gallery content is retained.
You can now conduct community surveys to gather information on important issues.
Any community member can now share folders from the Files application with their community by
using the Files widget.
Connections Content Manager (CCM) enhancements include improved anti-virus detection, and
multi-file upload.
Connections 5.0 features an improved community landing page.
